1. APPLICATION PROCEDURES

Step 1

Please make sure you are eligible to apply for admission as an international student.

For detailed information, please refer to “Who Can Apply.”

Step 2

International students may apply for admission of Fall and Spring Intake. Please

ensure that the program you intend to apply for is open for international students. For

detailed information, please refer to “Program Information.”

Step 3

Please complete online application at Taipei Tech Online Application System between

Aug. 1, 2026 to Sep. 30, 2026.

Step 4

Please upload required and supporting documents to the Online Application System

by deadline. For detailed information, please refer to “What To Submit.”

Step 5

Once you have submitted the application, a confirmation letter will be sent to you via

email within 2 weeks. If you do not receive it, please email us at intstudy@ntut.edu.tw.

 

2. WHO CAN APPLY

2.1 Applicant’s Identity

Please make sure you are eligible to apply for admission as an international student by doing Student

Status Eligibility Check.

According to International Students Undertaking Studies in Taiwan, you must meet ONE of the following

requirements in order to apply for admission as an international student in Taiwan:

A person of foreign nationality who has NEVER held Republic of China (Taiwan, R.O.C.) nationality and who does NOT have Overseas Chinese student status at the time of the application

A person who holds both foreign and the R.O.C nationality but has never held household registration in Taiwan. At the time of his/her application, he/she should have resided overseas (excluding Hong Kong, Macau, and Mainland China) continuously for no less than 6 years; his/her stays in Taiwan per calendar year should not exceed a total of 120 days either.

A person who previously held R.O.C. nationality, but who, at the time of application, has already given up the nationality, which shall have been annulled by the Ministry of the Interior for no less than 8 years. At the time of his/her application, an individual of this kind should have resided overseas (excluding Hong Kong, Macau, and Mainland China) continuously for no less than 6 years; his/her stays in Taiwan per calendar year should not exceed a total of 120 days either.

 

An applicant of foreign nationality, concurrently holding permanent residence status in Hong Kong

or Macao, having no history of a household registration record in Taiwan, and at the time of

application, has resided in Hong Kong, Macao or another foreign country (excluding Mainland China)

for no less than 6 years and whose stays in Taiwan per calendar year do not exceed a total of 120 days.

An applicant being a former citizen of Mainland China and who holds foreign nationality, having no

history of household registration records in Taiwan, and at the time of application, has resided

overseas (excluding Hong Kong, Macau, and Mainland China) continuously for no less than 6 years,

and whose stays in Taiwan per calendar year do not exceed a total of 120 days.

Article 2 of the “Nationality Act”:

A person shall have the nationality of the R.O.C. under any of the conditions provided by the

following subparagraphs:

  1. His/her father or mother was a national of the R.O.C. when he/she was born.
  2. He/she was born after the death of his/her father or mother, and his/her father or mother was a national of the R.O.C. at the time of death.
  3. He/she was born in the territory of the R.O.C., and his/her parents can’t be ascertained or both were stateless persons.
  4. He/she has undergone the naturalization process.

 

2.2 Applicant’s Academic Credentials

Applicants must have graduated from a high school, college/university, or an educational institute that is either certified by Taiwan’s MOE (please refer to the website of the Department of International and Cross-Strait Education, MOE) or has been accredited by an organization authorized by the government where it is located.

Applicants who hold the degrees from Mainland, please do re-evaluate whether the degree certificates match the standard set by Article 7 and Article 8. Applicants who apply for an undergraduate program must hold a certificate of graduation obtained from a certified foreign high school; applicants who apply for a Master’s program must hold a Bachelor’s degree obtained from a certified college/university; applicants who apply for a Ph.D. program must hold a Master’s degree.

If the international student applied to come to Taiwan to undertake a bachelor's degree or lower-level program in Taiwan is limited to only applying once. If the student stayed for less than one year for some reason then discontinued their studies or forfeited their student status, that student may lodge another application to come to Taiwan to study, but only one such further application is permitted.

An international student who has been dismissed by the educational institution as a result of unsatisfactory conduct or of a conviction in criminal case proceedings is NOT permitted to apply for admission to another university or tertiary college.

Violations of the above qualifications will result in immediate cancellation of the applicant’s admission or the deprivation of the applicant’s recognized status as Taipei Tech registered student, or revocation of applicant’s Taipei Tech’s diploma. NO academic certificate will be given.

 

3. WHEN TO APPLY

Total Admission Quota

According to Ministry of Education’s Regulations Regarding International Students Undertaking Studies in Taiwan,” the quota for admission allocated for international students at universities should be no more than ten percent of the number of positions allocated for these schools for local students at these schools each year.

Admission quota for 2026 Fall intake & 2027 Spring intake:

1. Bachelor: 60

Please visit Taipei Tech OIA’s website and click “Online Application” to start the application process.

5. APPLICATION FEE

None.

 

6. WHAT TO SUBMIT

All the required documents should be uploaded to the Online Application System by deadline. Any documents submitted by email will not be processed.

Diploma Certificate

Applicants applying for Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD programs should submit High School Diploma, Bachelor’s Degree Certificate, and Master’s Degree Certificate respectively. If the diploma certificate is not in English, applicants should submit an English translation stamped and signed by the issuing institution or a notary office. Final year students may upload certificate of study (enrollment) issued by current university.

Transcripts

The transcripts should include grades of every semester. If the transcripts are not in English, applicants should submit an English translation stamped and signed by the issuing institution or a notary office.

Statement of Purpose

Applicants applying for Bachelor’s or Master’s programs should submit one Statement of Purpose/Study Plan.

Research Plan

Applicants applying for PhD programs should submit one Research Plan.

Curriculum Vitae

Submit an expanded CV offering additional information about yourself.

Financial Support

Applicants should submit one Financial Statement.

Minimum of NTD 150,000 (or USD 5,000) is required. Please select one of the following ways of submission:

An official financial statement issued within the past three months from a financial institution.

If the financial statement provided is not under the name of the applicant, please submit: 1. The guarantor's financial statement; 2. A financial guarantee statement from the guarantor (see p.34). Proof showing the applicant has been awarded full scholarship.

Passport

Applicants who do not have passports can submit their national IDs.

The faculty member’s name of your program of interest. Applicants shall find faculty that interest you and address the faculty's name and email address on application form.

 

1 Letter of Recommendation

The recommender must be someone from your previous or current school or workplace.

Design Portfolio

Only applicants who apply for programs under College of Design are required to submit their design portfolio.

Master Thesis Topic & Abstract

Only applicants who apply for PhD programs are required to submit their Master Thesis Topic and Abstract.

Video of Motivation & Self-Introduction

Please record a video of at least 1 minute, including self-introduction and motivation for applying for the program (present in either Chinese or English or both). Please provide a valid link. If the file is invalid or cannot be viewed, it will be regarded as a missing document.

Please paste the video link in a Word file and save as a PDF to submit. Applicants should provide the correct and exact name same as their passport. Besides the above documents, there will be interviews for some programs.

7. PROGRAM INFORMATION

The Course Description and Number of Credits of each program have not been updated yet. You may click the link and check the course description of the previous year for reference. Course catalogue is subject to the information announced by the department.

Language proficiency requirements: English proficiency certificate at CEFR B2 or above Course Outline and List of Credits.

8. TUITION

The above-mentioned fees are for one semester.

Students who receive Tuition Waiver should still make the payment of Internet Fee, Students Campus

Insurance Fee, and National Health Insurance Fee every semester.

Students who don’t have NHI will be enrolled in Group Medical Insurance, the fee is NTD 3,000 for 6 months.

Renewal Requirement

Second year master’s students may apply for tuition waiver with first year academic performance.

From the 2nd year onward, PhD students’ academic performance and the number of published journals in the previous year will be the criteria for scholarship renewal. For detailed information regarding scholarship application, please refer to the official website of Office of International Affairs (Degree Students> Scholarships).

12.2 Taiwan Government Scholarships

Application

After admission result announcement, Taipei Tech will inform all accepted PhD students from Southeast and South Asia as well as African Countries via email. Qualified students must send the Lecturer Certificate to Taipei Tech by the designated deadline. Please simply apply for the admission first and wait for the email from the Office of International Affairs.

Renewal Requirement

Recipients must apply for renewal in order to keep the scholarship valid until the 4th year. From the 2nd year onward, PhD students’ academic performance and the number of published journals in the previous year will be the requirement for renewal of the scholarship.
